UAZ 3153
Hello,
my Name is Jo and i´m from Austria. A few years ago i owned a UAZ 31519 and was very satisfied with this car. In 2006 i want to buy a new UAZ 3153 and i need now some information about this car. I want to use the car mainly on tracks in Sibiria, Mongolia and Kazakstan. In central europe information about UAZ cars is very hard to get . Please help me: 1) I think two gearboxes are available (a four speed and a five speed gearbox). Which one is recommendable? 2) Is there only one engine available? If there are more - which one is recommendable? 3) What extras are recommendable? Power Steering? Military axles? 4) Which tire size is recommendable for improving ground clearance? I had some trouble with the original tires mounted on my UAZ 31519. 5) What are the typical problems i should take care? 6) What is the actual price in russia for an UAZ 3153? The prices posted in the internet differ quite a lot. 7) What kind of Shock Absorbers are recommendable? Are there replacements from Koni, Bilstein, Monroe etc. available? Maybe anyone can post the numbers of the shock absorbers. I think ordering in russia could be difficult from central europe . Thanks for your help! Greets, Jo. |

I think that now also use engine ZMZ-409 injection. 3) Hydraulic steering booster is good. At us use the Italian forcing hoses, they it is more reliable. On new UAZ have spacer axle. People speak that they reliable. 4) On ground clearance I can tell nothing. 5) Very much problems with clutch. In Russia very often use clutch Luk. Russian baskets of clutch is bad. Disk of сlutch apply Tyumen (from Sibiria). Rear leafs spring is not good. Put additional springs or leafs. 6) In Russia 3153 costs nearby 9500 $. 7) Russian shock absorbers is not good. Shock-absorbers use KONI: KONI 301351 l=470/313 - (L=extended/compressed) 2250 /880 301372 l=589/377 1450 /350 301380 l=623/404 1400 /600 301408 l=496/328 2750 /750 301500 l=549/393 1950 /1050 301569/301625 l=546/358 1850 /700 301566 l=500/323 2500 /1000 30-1457 l=457/303 3300 /1400 Also use Plaza, Kayabo Мonomax № 565007. In Russia shock absorbers people put independently. |

That's right!
But I want to do a little correction. In 2005 UAZ-3153 is made only with UMZ-421 carburettor engine (Euro-0, octan rate 80) and only with 5-speed gear-box. Probably since 2006 it will be made with ZMZ-409 injector engine (2,7 L, 130 HP, Euro-2, octan rate 92).
